Plagiarism

If you don’t give credit for your sources you may not get credit for your assignment. Your teacher(s) and/or the school administration may also decide on other disciplinary action.

Most teachers will ask you to use MLA format (9th edition) for your citations:

  • To cite a book:
    • Author’s Last Name, First Name. Title of Book. Edition if given and is not first edition, Publisher Name, Year of publication.
    • Example:
      • SmithThomasThe Citation Manual for Students: A Quick Guide2nd ed., Wiley, 2020.
  • To cite a website:
    • Author’s Last Name, First Name (if known). “Title of article.” Title of Website, Name of Organization Affiliated with the Website, date of copyright or date last modified/updated if available, URL. Accessed Day Month Year site was visited.
    • Example:
      • “Top 10 Women’s Ice Hockey Players of All Time.” Rookie Road Sports Encyclopedia, Digital Sports Holdings, Aug. 2023, www.rookieroad.com/ice-hockey/top-10-womens-ice-hockey-players-all-time-5859181/. Accessed 14 Jan. 2024.
